Lash And Brow Growth Serums
The eye area is the most important feature on a persons face and in most cases the brows and lashes are often neglected. The definition of what is considered beautiful changes over time. However, thick, full, and dark lashes are a universal sign of femininity and sex appeal. A great set of lashes can instantly improve any woman’s overall appearance by softening her features, accentuating her eyes, and giving her a more youthful look.
With respect to how they grow, eye brows and lashes are not much different from the hair on our heads. Individual lashes go through a growth cycle- growth begins at the root and eventually stops once the lash reaches a certain length, and the hair falls out after some time. Unfortunately, many different factors can prevent lashes from growing as they should. Some of the main culprits are harsh mascaras and dyes, which can cause breakage, damage and even thinning over time when used excessively. Sun and UV exposure can also lead to problems.
If you have lashes that have become damaged over time, or you were simply born with spare or brittle ones, a conditioning product developed specifically for eye lashes can help improve their strength, length, and over all appearance. These hydrating and nourishing products achieve their often remarkable results through the use of extracts that  have lectin-like activity. This makes these ingredients capable of stimulating the follicles to promote hair growth.
Ingredients...
Specific ingredients to look for when you’re shopping for a lash or brow conditioner include hyaluronic acid, glucoproteins, and pro vitamin B5. When all of these are included in a single formulation, the product can hydrate your lashes, make them stronger so they can resist breakage, and actually stimulate growth.
In with the new out with the old...
In the 90’s the thin, over tweezed brow was the big thing. Now that we’ve entered a new decade a more full brow is what is in style and finding the right product to achieve that can be difficult. There are many products out there that claim to be the solution. Here at SAVVI we have taken it upon ourselves to find the best product out there, and we have found that “Billion Dollar Brows”has taken the torch. Not only only are their before & after pictures amazing but thousands of testimonials have proven them to be the best.
The Billion Dollar Brow Boost is a protein and vitamin conditioner that works to help your brows look healthy and full. Applies clear and dries instantly.

Sun Safety Cheat Sheet
Summer’s in full swing and with intense heat waves plaguing just about every area, being sun safe should be at the top of all our lists. We’ve collected some must-have knowledge and tips to help you protect the skin you’re in!
UVA and UVB Rays
According to theSkin Cancer Foundation, 95 percent of the UV radiation that reaches the Earth’s surface comes from UVA rays. UVA is the “dominant tanning ray.” It plays a big role in skin aging and damage to the cells in the basal layer of the skin, meaning it contributes to and even initiates skin cancers. While not as strong as their UVB ray counterparts, they are present during all daylight hours, all year long and can penetrate on even the cloudiest of days.
UVB is the primary cause of sunburn and plays a major part in the development of skin cancers. “UVB rays can burn and damage your skin year-round, especially at high altitudes and on reflective surfaces such as snow or ice, which bounce back up to 80 percent of the rays so that they hit the skin twice.
Tanning: The Dirty Truth
While a lot of us love the look of a tan, what we don’t love is the damage even one tan causes our skin. Whether indoors or outdoors, tanning is a result of an injury to the skin’s DNA. Skin cells darken in an “attempt to prevent further DNA damage.” Think of getting a burn on an iron: the skin darkens in that spot and when we tan it’s like taking an iron to our entire body.
People who use indoor tanning are more likely to develop squamous and basal cell carcinoma because the sunlamps used in booths emit 12 times the amount of UVA as the sun. Teens who tan indoors increase their risk of melanoma by up to 75 percent.
Am I At Risk?
If you answer yes to any of the following questions, you may have a higher risk of developing melanoma:
1.Is there a history of melanoma in your family?
2. Do you have light eyes and skin?
3. Have you had one or more severe sunburns?
4. Do you frequently spend time in the sun between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.?
5. Do you live in the southwestern U.S.?
6. Do you have many freckles?
7. Have you been exposed to UV radiation from tanning beds?
Lower Your Risk: Prevention and Protection
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “melanoma may be triggered by intense, intermittent sun exposure.” In the past 20 years, the number of melanoma cases has nearly tripled thanks to more time enjoying outdoor activities with less clothing and less sun protection, as well as the millions of Americans who visit indoor tanning salons regularly. Protect yourself! When you are in the sun, wear appropriate clothing, cover your head with a wide-brimmed hat (the head and neck are some of the most commonly overlooked places), wear sunglasses and ALWAYS put on sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or greater. Limit your sun exposure between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and by all means, forever avoid tanning beds. If a dark tan is a must, invest in self tanners or go for a spray tan. Also, new research has shown that Vitamin A may lower the risk of Melanoma, so don’t shy away from taking a multivitamin!

NEW REGULATIONS FOR SUNSCREEN PRODUCTS...

On June 14, 2011, U.S. FDA issued new rules for sunscreen products. These present dramatic changes to current regulations and rules by U.S. FDA for sunscreen products.
New labeling and testing requirements are effective for all sunscreen products. Many common phrases used on sunscreen products, such as "sunblock," "waterproof," "prevents skin cancer," etc. are no longer permitted by U.S. FDA. In addition, specific testing must be completed for each sunscreen product before other claims about the product's UVA and UVB protection can be made.
A Few Concerning Questions...
Why is FDA making changes to how sunscreens are marketed in the United States?
FDA is making changes to how sunscreens are marketed in the United States as part of the Agency's ongoing efforts to ensure that sunscreens meet modern day standards for safety and effectiveness. Prior rules on sunscreens dealt almost exclusively with protection against sunburn, which is primarily caused by ultraviolet B (UVB)radiation from the sun, and did not address ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation, which contributes to skin cancer and early skin aging. After reviewing the latest science, FDA determined that sufficient data are available to establish a "broad spectrum" test for determining a sunscreen product's UVA protection. Passing the broad spectrum test shows that the product provides UVA protection that is proportional to its UVB protection. Sunscreen products that pass the broad spectrum test are allowed to be labeled as "Broad Spectrum." These testing and labeling requirements are necessary to provide consumers with the information they need to make informed choices when selecting sunscreens.
What does the SPF value on sunscreen labels indicate?
A. The SPF value indicates the level of sunburn protection provided by the sunscreen product. All sunscreens must be tested according to an SPF test procedure. The test measures the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure it takes to cause sunburn when a person is using a sunscreen in comparison to how much UV exposure it takes to cause a sunburn when they do not use a sunscreen. The product is then labeled with the appropriate SPF value indicating the amount of sunburn protection provided by the product. Higher SPF values (up to 50) provide greater sunburn protection. Because SPF values are determined from a test that measures protection against sunburn caused by ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation, SPF values only indicate a sunscreen's UVB protection.

Does FDA believe sunscreens are still safe and effective?
The ingredients in FDA-approved sunscreens marketed today have been used for many years, and FDA has no reason to believe these products are not safe and effective when used as directed. Therefore, FDA is not advising consumers to throw away their current sunscreen products.
It is also important to note that FDA is not questioning the safety of any ingredients used in marketed sunscreens. FDA believes the risk of not using sunscreen is much greater than any potential risk posed by sunscreen ingredients.

What do consumers most need to know when buying and using sunscreens?
Spending time in the sun increases a person's risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To reduce these risks, consumers should regularly use a Broad Spectrum sunscreen with an SPF value of 15 or higher in combination with other protective measures such as:
  • Limiting time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM when the sun's rays are the strongest.
  • Wearing clothing to cover skin exposed to the sun (long-sleeved shirts, pants, sunglasses, and broad-brimmed hats) when possible.
  • Using a water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.
  • Reapplying sunscreen, even if it is labeled as water resistant, at least every 2 hours. (Water resistant sunscreens should be reapplied more often after swimming or sweating, according to the directions on the label.)
Consumers should also be aware that no sunscreens are "waterproof" because all sunscreens eventually wash off. Sunscreens can only be labeled as "water resistant" if they are tested according to the required SPF test procedure. Sunscreens labeled "water resistant" sunscreens will also be required to state whether the sunscreen remains effective for 40 minutes or 80 minutes when swimming or sweating, and all sunscreens will be required to provide directions on when to reapply.

SCRUBS AND THEIR MANY BENEFITS!
There are many reasons why people should use facial scrubs. Many women believe that they can have beautiful skin simply by cleansing and washing their skin. However, it is also important to use a facial scrub at least once a week to keep your skin get rid of impurities which can lead to skin problems such as acne and blackheads.
Why do we Exfoliate?
Exfoliation is a step in a person’s skin care routine that should be done at least once a week as it gets ride of impurities and dead skin cells. If these are not removed, it can become deep seated and it can also lead to acne, blemishes and blackheads. Aside from that, it can also improve the skin’s ability to renew skin cells to help make you skin look refreshed and glowing. It is also important to keep in mind that facial exfoliators can tighten the skin and fight the early signs of skin aging
Many Benefits
There are many benefits of using facial scrubs but women should not be too hard when exfoliating their skin. Instead of keeping your skin looking beautiful and healthy, you might do more harm than good. If you have normal, dry or oily skin, it is recommended to exfoliate at least once a week. If your skin is sensitive though, it should be done less often so as not to irritate it. You may also want to consider using natural facial scrubs as these will not cause problems because it is organic.

  • benefit pre and post-operative care
What is microcurrent?
Microcurrent is a low-level, alternating current that typically operates in the range of 0-400 microamps. Microcurrent technology is one of the hottest innovations in the anti-aging industry and is used in top spas and medical offices to perform facial sculpting - tightening, toning, and firming of aging skin. The results can be so dramatic that microcurrent treatments are often referred to as "non-surgical face lifts".
How does microcurrent work?
Microcurrent works by targeting the muscles under the skin that cause our facial skin to wrinkle and sag. As we age, our muscles become accustomed to certain expressions and tend to "stick" in these positions. A great example of this is the furrow between the eyebrows. At the same time, other muscles in our face are hardly ever used, and they begin to atrophy, which leads to sagging. An example of this can often be seen around the jaw lines, chins and necks where we tend to develop sagging or loss of definition as we get older.

The Jane Iredale Difference
The most beautiful cosmetic you can wear is a healthy skin. That's why everything Jane Iredale develops is a true extension of skin care. Their makeup is not just a refinement of conventional makeup; it's a new technology. It's so effective it is recommended by plastic surgeons, dermatologists and skin care professionals.
Non-Comedogenic & Oil-Free
Jane Iredale makeup is non-comedogenic (doesn't block pores). Mineral particles form a protective barrier on the skin that allows it to breathe and function normally.  This protective barrier also traps environmental pollutants.  (We always advise taking off makeup at night in order to remove what it's collected during the day. Ugh!)  Even though they know their monerals don't block pores and act as anti-inflammatories and anti-microbials, they still test all of the makeup for comedogenicity in a laboratory.  This attention to detail is why they have so many testimonials from acne patients claiming an improvement in their skins since using jane iredale
This weeks Top Pick...
Savvi offers Jane Iredale’s full product line and as always there will be someone here to match this wonderful product to your skin to create a more radiant you... One of our favorite products is definitely Jane Iredale’s Liquid Mineral Foundation. A healthy mineral foundation makes a world of difference in enhancing your skin’s own radiance. Healthy skin has no use for oil, talc, FD&C dyes, synthetic preservatives, parabens, or synthetic fragrance, and neither does this foundation. Just natural, ultra water-resistant, all-day wearing, protective, mineral foundations that actually encourage your skin to breath and bring your essential beauty to light.

What you need for that perfect Summer skin.....

Cleanser? Check. Toner? Check. Moisturizer? Check. There you have it—the complete skin care regimen. Right? Actually, there's something missing here, and it's missing from many of our customers' routines: the facial mask.
Facial masks provide deep nourishment to the skin, so why do so many people neglect this pampering product? Because it takes time—most masks need to remain on the skin for about 15 minutes, and the benefits are many.
Masks can be used to moisturize, detoxify, increase circulation and replenish nutrients. But above all, they add an extra dimension to the skin-care routine, and they are truly pampering.
No matter your skin type, there is a facial mask suited for you. Usually used once or twice a week, facial masks can deep down clean your face, tighten your pores, or brighten and exfoliate your face. Masks are not a "one size fits all" product though. There are clay masks, fruit extract masks, yogurt masks, and gel masks, just to name a few in a long lineup. Before you buy a facial mask, you must recognize your skin type and buy accordingly.
Facial masks can be found under various forms like:
*cream masks which can be applied cold or warm on dry skin. They usually offer moisture and nourishment for dry and sensitive skin. They contain ingredients which are mild on the skin to avoid skin irritations
*exfoliating masks are intended for all skin types. They are meant to remove all the impurities and dead skin cells which can cause pimples to appear. They leave the skin feeling smooth and soft and help promote skin cells regeneration
*peel-off masks can be helpful for all skin types. Most of them come in a gel form, a gel which if applied on the face will solidify, transforming itself in a rubbery looking substance which can easily be removed from the skins surface by peeling it off. These type of masks can contain ingredients which cleanse, refresh, purify and reinvigorate the skin
*homemade masks are made with natural ingredients. They can be made out of fruit, honey, milk, yogurt. There are so many homemade mask recipes to suite all types of complexions. You can choose masks for nourishing, refreshing, cleansing or exfoliating the skin. Find out the benefits of different ingredients and create your own homemade facial mask
