Fall Facial Care

Fall has arrived.  Even with our epic Central Coast weather, you can feel Fall is upon us. Personally, this is my very favorite time of year.  That crisp air, gold Autumn lighting, warm Indian Summers...

And, the drier Fall climate.  Skin speaking, I go for a hydrating facial with an emphasis on exfoliation to clean up my Post-Summer-Skin.  You know how we haven't really exfoliated too much because we were having so much Summer fun at the:
1. Swimming Pool
2. Beach
3. Camping/ Hiking
4. All of the Above

...But, we did slather on the sunscreen!  Now it's time for a Deep Cleansing Facial.

I'm pairing a  Microdermabrasion Facial with a Complimentary Oxygen Therapy through the month of November.  If you're feeling more festive, our Pumpkin Parfait Facial is a delicious way to get you back on track for your skin care needs before the Holidays.

Savvi Skin & Body Studio,
Bring your body and we'll take care of it.

What's in Your Shower?

As an Esthetician I tend to get a little obsessive with my skin care products.  My clients often ask me what I use personally, what's in my shower or on my dressing table.  Keep in mind that I'm naturally oily with ongoing breakout possibilities, which is how this whole thing started.  Here's the long list...
  • RA's glycolic herbal wash and gentle milk cleansers are a staple in my house.
  • I alternate between RA's Pumice Wash, Beta Scrub or Epicuren's Benzoyl Peroxide Scrubs.
  • Epicuren's Acne Astringent, RA's Blemish Serum.  ALWAYS.
  • Currently, moving into a drier season, I am using a nice little cocktail of RA's MVCserum, Hyaluronic Acid, and Epicuren's BioPeptide.
  • Then Zinc Protection Creme, which is the only moisturizer w/ SPF that I approve of.
  • Jane's Liquid Minerals followed by Riviera pressed powder.
  • I like the "I'm not wearing eye makeup look", so it's liquid liner and mascara for these brown eyes daily.  Rarely do I stray....
  • At night I have been using SkinCeuticals Phyto+ for hyperpigmentation mixed with either the Skin Retexturizer or the Line Defense exfoliant.
  • RA's Ultra Hydration Creme if I'm feeling like I need a lil sumthin sumthin.
  • Epicuren's Body Scrub and the Lemongrass Afterbath with the Tropical Lave, Yumm-oh!
Obviously, I am partial to the lines that I carry, Epicuren, RA, SkinCeuticals, Jane Iredale,  as the ingredients are impeccable and they work!  But, I'm always looking for new things to entice my senses, so, what's in your shower?

Rhonda Allison's Top Ten Ingredients

So, this is my very first blog entry(!).  I thought that for my first entry, I would pass on one of the numerous newsletters/emails I receive that I find so helpful in learning about skin care.  This is from Rhonda Allison's Top Ten list with her commentary following each paragraph.  She lists which of her wonderful products contain these buzzword ingredients as she is already ahead of the skin care game.  As a self proclaimed product junkie, I find RA's retail/ professional line has kept me fully entertained and yet she continues to create more for me to play with!

I want to add that Rhonda doesn't include her Milk Mask as a probiotic provider but Epicuren has a topical acidopholis cream( see 7 PROBIATIC)  for inflamed acneic skin types that many of my clients have found very soothing.  I know of customized Epicuren facials to include refrigerated Kefir as a finishing mask for this same skin type.  There are never ending possibilities with the science of skin care these days, I love it!
